: I stumbled across this board looking for care tips and thought I'd would be a good idea to get some advice from those who already own iguanas.
: I'd appreciate it of I could get some feedback on my cage, whether it's good enough, and how long it will last before its outgrown.
: The cage is 3 1/2 feet tall, 2 feet deep and 5 feet wide.
: There is a shelf that is 1 foot deep and runs along the back.
: The cage is made of wood (waterproofed) and the front is covered by coated mesh.
: The bottom is covered with indoor/outdoor carpeting.
: On the floor there is a 'pool' thats 1'x1.5'x0.5'
: There a 3 large pieces of driftwood leaning against the ledge so that the iguana can climb up. There are also many fake plants decorating the cage.
: Does this sound like an ok cage?
I have a simlar cage that I bought from Apple Herpatology. Its about 4 ft high with a big bark in it and shelfs. I use an emitter for night time and the new UV heat light all day. Iggie is 2 years old and about 2 feet. I figure in about 2 more years she will outgrow it but for now you are OK - I found out that they don't grow as fast as I thought they would. I just started letting mine walk around at night for awhile since she is big enough now not to get under my baseboards but I have handled her since day 1, every day for about 1/2 hour and it has taken about 2 years to finally get her tame. Good luck with yours. If you have any questions, give a yell.
: I'd apreciate ANY tips or feedback.
: Thanks
