Glenda......From what Ive read seems to me that skin and cloaca=EXIT ONLY! ....even tho their skin doesn't *absorb* anything....(expensive vitamin sprays or water) what the added external moisture/humidity does is PREVENT water LOSS ....curtails evaporation: one of the ways reptiles seem to LOSE internal water is thru their skin. Misting them, high humidity cuts that rate down is all...and its still great for aiding in shed removal..Im thinking like a bolognie sandwich...(not salamie!! thinking about Joan's turtle ***shudder**** lolol) ...the shed skin (bolognie or bologna as Oscar spells it) is being sloughed off because of 'evaporation' from the skins moisture (the bread)...then we "spray" it (the other piece of bread)....the extra "moisture" helps by getting into little nooks of retained shed result: one happy ig! I would think spraying at the dead shed...would be ok...maybe its a little more porous so water seeps thru it....I don't know. No proof I posted some stuff up above.... Please dont get me wrong...I would NEVER tell anyone NOT to mist their igs, give em baths etc. Confused??? You??? Didn't mean to confuse you! I started it..Im sorry..Just some more of my crazy ideas!
