Everything you are feeling is natural. I know that if I lost any of my nearest and dearest non-humans I would probaby "replace in a good way" ASAP. You mourn, you remember, you save another animal's life.

And I'm very glad to hear you've got a healthy little juvenile settling in there. Enjoy the experience! Revel in the ease! There's no law that says you must take on the difficult ones.
