The white parts coming out with his poo sounds like the urates..that is normal. Sometimes they can look a little orange based on what he has been eating lately.

And older igs usually aren't as bright as youngsters. The darker color may be normal for him. Has he been checked by a vet, for parasites, general health, etc.? I highly recommend it.

Do you have a UVB light for him? Does he get natural sunlight?
