Iguanas can ONLY get moisture thru their mouth
(water on/in their foods, sprayed or in a syringe)
....Ive been reading a bit about it recently...
iguanas do not absorb water via the cloaca like I
thought they could. Gina
Gina,
I, too, am under the impression that iguanas can
absorb small amounts of water through the cloaca.
My Q's vet had me soaking him for 30 minutes a day,
minimum, for just that reason. Can you point me
in the direction of the info you found that says
this isn't so? I want to make sure the info I
share with others is the best possible, and I've
often advised people to soak their igs for hydration
purposes. (Like iZ's Mom, I'm often asked for info
on caring for kidney-damaged iguanas because I
had success managing my Q's condition.)
Thanks for any leads you can give!
