Egads!! lolol iguana guano!!....well....Katherine..speaking from someone who used to have an iguana pooping every 3 days and her getting sick (dehydration)....do everything in yer power to get him to do his thing everyday every other day max. Recheck your enclosure temps...need the heat to digest his food, add higher fiber high calcium foods like reconsituted prunes nuke a bunch with alot of water mash, pour the warm slurry over his food....valencia oranges...heat up his food. Keep food chopped small. Keep that humidity high! Even if ya got to get a humidifier...do it. It'll last ya eons. Spray him down....so he isn't losing moisture but retaining it. Iguanas can ONLY get moisture thru their mouth (water on/in their foods, sprayed or in a syringe) ....Ive been reading a bit about it recently...iguanas do not absorb water via the cloaca like I thought they could. Water in a cat pan/ baths/showers etc act only as a stimulant. They do NOT absorb moisture thru their skin. The ^ humidity causes them NOT to lose more hydration is all. DEHYDRATION IS A KILLER!! You are so right about the toxins building up. Since he has a cat pan/water thingie for poopin (you may want to put a human heat pad under it...but sounds like he's getting dehydrated! Nuke his foods...pour water over it and nuke it a few minutes...serve it above room temp. Yummie! Iguanas are capable of adapting to alot of different ways of eating. Its just the waiting for them to change their ways! Ive heard of some people who have their iguanas food/salad bowl almost completely submerged in water...and the igs eat it just fine! I cannot tell you enough ...how important keeping these guys hydrated and poopin is! but it IS!! Some igs really like a warm about 86 degree shower than a bath. Keep a routine established. Shower him for a half hour after you get home...or whatever... he'll adapt...its just the routine. Some igs prefer poopin all over their cage...but majority especially older igs do NOT! In the wild the rivers and water they poopie in threw off the scent from predators...typing out loud again! But YOU have to decide what you want him to do....get him used to daily baths, get used to the cat pan, come out free roam to "his poopie spot" then go back to his cage.....first decide...then post back...and we can start a poop attack plan for you! lolol
