This was batted around at least once on the Iguana Mail List. There was hesitancy because these chips if "installed" by a less than thoroughly knowledgeable herp vet *could* migrate in to places they shouldn't be causing all kinds of problems up to and including death ;o(
I know that they have been used successfully in expensive breeds of dogs....but you gotta admit HD that there are a lot more qualified dog vets than herp vets.
I seem to recall that somewhere, here or IML, tatoos were talked about, too. I think they may have been nixed because no one was sure if they would last thru all the sheddings. (Then again, I DON'T think any of us want to volunteer to be the one to hold an iguana getting a tatoo!!)
I know that at least some of Henry Lizardlover's igs wear necklace like things...I think they may be ornamental, however, rather than ID. But that would be another idea. The drawback with that is if it were loose enuf it might get hung up on something and strangle or injure the ig.
