using tree limbs ok?

hi. i read that it is ok to use regular tree limbs for you ig tank if you disinfect them. which ones are ok and how do you go about disinfecting them? also, are these limbs ok to use in a chameleon reptarium as well? any advice would be appreciated. thanks, meredith
