Do you know what type of ants they are? If they're carpenter ants, this could be a sign that they've established a nest somewhere in the house. Carpenter ants are usually black or dark brown, large (1/8 to 3/8 inch), and will have jointed antennae. They can cause alot of damage and be a real pain to eliminate.
