Ants in my flourescent fixture?!

I made a rather strange discovery as I was converting a closet into a new home for my Iguana, "Lemmy". I kept seeing the occassional ant crawling around his flourescent fixture. I've been trying to locate where they might be coming from, then decided to open the casing up and check inside...sure enough there were a bunch hiding in the casing, wedged into any crevices, especially near the main "coil" thingy. Whats THAT all about...? I've never heard of something like this before...are they attracted to the Vita-lite, or could it be something inside the casing they're after...i.e. the waxy coating on some of the parts. Anyway, I cleared them out, but still, has anybody else had any experience with anything like this?
