ok, about heat ...
i've been using one of those electric heaters that look like an old fashioned radiator for iZ's room (it's got heated oil permantently sealed inside) ... it's got it's own thermostat and it's worked *great* all winter here in iowa ... i don't think it'd be all that expensive to use for only a month or so ...

definitely use wire mesh on the top of Ziggi's enclosure if you're gonna have lights up there ... just to be extra safe about not melting the plastic!

depending on the size of the room and etc, etc, you might be able to use just a couple of extra heat lamps in the cold months ... aimed at the reps but not tooo close ... it'll not only warm the spot that it's aimed at, but will raise the entrie room's temp a bit ... (tho your herp room is lots bigger than iZ's room! i'm jealous!)

and if you have forced-air heat in the house, you're gonna need to add a humidifier in the winter too ... i use one of those cool-mist ones + love it ... but i wonder if you could use of of the steam ones cuz it would also be adding heat with the humid steam????? you'd have to be very very sure that none of the lizards could get out of their enclosures and anywhere near it, but that could add a few degrees of warmth too ... hmmmm ...

oooooooooh ... can we stop talkin' about winter and heat???? *grin* ... it's *finally* acting like spring here and i'm sooooo sick of cold weather!!!

ok ~ i'm off to clean + inspect all things electrical ... groan ... hubby's gonna have a *huge* list of things to do *A*S*A*P* ... yech yech yech ...
