MK & I got into a big debate/argument about the action of acidic fruits like pineapple, citrus, tomatoes etc....In Maders seems like I read something about citrus fruits being 'caustic to mouth' ...then MK refuted it...saying the ONLY citric fruit that is caustic to mouth/mucosa is grapefruit *shrugging shoulders* wouldn't give grapefruit to my igs anyway! It takes me a long time to get used to its bitterness (naringin) myself! I can't find the link to the acid/alkaline
ph of foods I use but will if I can find it. I think its the term ACID that throws us off! Acid=bad, strong, acid ph,caustic etc. but citric fruits like oranges are more beneficial than harmful and increase the ph to alkaline. Pineapple...and yer right about the phosphorus content doesn't make it such a terrific fruit to give "all the time"...wondering about the benefits of 'bromelain' (?) in it tho...
Confused? makes 2 of us!
