HD...I think those 4 or 5 breakpoints (?) are towards the top half of the tail ...where it involves vertebra (bone).....not bottom half where mainly cartilage. Just some observations....especially after amputating Feo's tail and feedback from others when Ive suggested do it yerself tail tip amputations at home....There have been no complaints whatsoever with tail tip amputation and regrowth.
Now...what I've read that *WILL* hinder tail growth is sutures, bandaging long term, and an inappropriate cut, not *in between* the vertebra like in those cases where amputations are needed at the top half of the tail... like with tail autonomy, or breakage, gangrene and also not making a clean cut...but leaving the jagged stump with pieces of skin attached as in breaks or with tail autonomy. A nice clean cut it what is preferred with quick application of antibiotic ointment then betadine or nolvasan after that ..makes you wonder how iguanas in the wild regrow their tails without Vets & Betadine huh?
