I got home to find that one of our igs severely broke his tail about 3 1/2 from the end. There was a few puddles of blood in the cage on he was on his perch. Anyway, there wasn't much holding it on, so I wrapped him in a towel and proceeded to amputate the broken part with a steralized x-acto knife. This worked out ok. I cleanzed the wound with alcohol and coated the end with neosporin. I am going to call the vet tomorrow to have him checked out and get some antibiotics just in case. So far he is doing ok( he is 14 months old ). I will do the lights off trick to get him to sleep more.
Does anyone else have any suggestions ? thanks.
