That's a hard one-- it sounds like it's something to be concerned about, but I understand your reluctance to try a new vet (I've gone to horrible ones-- especially the emergency ones. In fact it was a real dilemma when my last ig took very ill over the weekend, I waited until I could go to a very good one, but he died on the way. I still do not regret my decision because I would have always blamed the emergency vet-- they massacred him once just trying to take blood. I don't believe a vet would have saved him due to his kidney failure unless it was caught much earlier.) Anyway, I would go to the vet-- either wait for yours or get a reference to another GOOD one.

The salt stuff you describe gets on Sleestack's nose sometimes, but never inside the mouth (don't know what that is). Good luck and keep us posted. (sorry for the depressing ig story when you are feeling badly already)
