I suppose that depends on where you get the kelp from. I mean, if they sell it for consumption by humans, than it has to be approved by the FDA, right? So if you got human grade kelp, it might not be too bad? Then again, I don't know for sure, this is all just supposition.
: Working purely from memory (which isn't very safe some days *grin*).....kelp is a good source of iodine but when I ran that idea past the Iguana Mail List it got shot down based on the pollution of the oceans. Now I realize you can get this in powdered form in health stores but I DON'T know if this kelp is like "farmed" in man-made,unpolluted salt water or what. For more info on different kelp see:

That would be extremely cool of you, iguanamomma! I'll keep looking into it, too. I'm going to try and find some info on safe/appropriate levels if iodine in an herbiverous reptiles diet, too....
