For topical use, Ivermetcin in its diluted form is ok. I personally know of one occasion where a pair of spiny tailed iguanas were given injections without fatal effects; this was a case of severe mite infestations with already trying all other approaches . For green iguanas, I've heard of two deaths and some with serious (tho recoverable) side effects. The margin of error of dosing out the drug is so small, that IMO, it's not worth the risk to the animal, without trying alternative routes. If I remember correctly, I think that both Mader and Klingenberg point out the small margin of error in their books. As Sue pointed out, if this is a parasites issue, there are the much safer and commonly used alternatives of Panacur and Flagyl.
