Cage building

I just finished a new cage for my Ig.
I applyed 3 separate coats of oil based PolyUrethane, after the paint. Inbetween the coats was quick dry, in 100 degree days, no humidity, outside.
now it's cooled a little. I can still smell the polyU a little. Should I wait until the smell is completely gone? Is a week long enough dry?. any suggestions are appreciated.
