First, my sympathies on giving injectables, it's tough to hurt your pet for their own good. Cirsisue has to leave the room when I have to do any shots, she has held them, (with her eyes closed, wincing).
My tips are, wrap the ig in a towel, immobilize him as much as possible, cover the head, hooding helps calm them. It's a 2 person task, but can be done solo.Leave the one foreleg to be injected outside the wrap. Gently bring the foreleg back toward the tail, gripping just above the wrist & elbow, claws up. Take the syringe at a shallow angle, about 30 degrees, place the tip between scales on the lizards triceps, take a deep breath, put the tip in about 3/8" in, inject in one smooth motion, withdraw needle. Alternate the forelegs for each injection.
Good Luck and happy herping!
Dan
