Sounds like something isn't right in the enclosure and your ig is trying to get out. Also, get rid of the bark, it's not a good substrate. It can cause blockage in the "hind gut" area of the intestines. Are you using the following items?
1. UVB 5.0 lighting
2. Heat (ceramic or spot for basking) 95 degrees
3. humidity 75% or more
4. Proper diet
If you'll post diet listing and the other items, we can get a better idea of what might be going on with your iguana. Also, what size is the enclosure?
We have a rescued iguana that digs at the cage every day, but the reason is, it was a free roamer before and it doesn't like to be caged up. We give her time outside of the cage on a regular basis and we make sure that she's in a cage that doesn't cause problems with a diggin' iguana. Small screen wire is NOT recommanded with a diggin' igauan, first and fore most problem, loss of toe nails and nose rubbed off, which would lead to many medical problems.
Let us know more information and I feel we might be able to help you with this problem.
Best Wishes,
HD
