The only commercial food I found in this area that didn't have corn as the main ingredient was (I believe) ZooMed. It has alfalfa and contains collard greens. We only used it when we were going on vacation for a few days to make it easier for the person coming in to feed him. Sneakers didn't like it that much.
I cut up and mix collard and mustard greens, parnips, green beans, snow peas, and store them in a tupperware type container. The parnips and green beans will get changed out for other veggies. Just depends on whats available. I will also freeze up to two more containers. This is enough for 2 weeks. Other items, squash, sweet potato, rice, noodles, and fruits. I only cut up and store enough for the week and keep them in seperate little containers as they will go bad at different rates or turn to mush.
In the summer we go down to the cities water wells and pick dandelions. They can't use any poison or fertilizer near or around the water wells. The dandelions flowers are put in a seperate container, but the dandelions leaves are added to the other greens and mixed. This seems to work for us.
Joan (can't find watercress and escarole around here)
