As long as we are talking diet, here is what I use with good results according to my Vet.
Greens- 70-80%- Usually 60-70% collards with the remainder turnip or mustard and occasionally bok choy- use healthy leaves only and cut into small pieces in order to add digestion
Fresh shredded vegetables-10-20%- equal amounts of yellow and zucchini squash, sweet potato, and occasionally turnip root
Frozen vegetables- 5-10%- 2:1 mix of mixed vegetables and lima beans (the limas could be substituted with peas or most any other safe vegetable that your Ig likes)- microwave 8 minutes- 2 heaping teaspoons for adults
Fresh fruits-5%- 1/2" of banana cut into small pieces- occasionally a small quantity of cantaloupe or 1 quartered seedless grape is added
All of the above should be mixed thoroughly
Supplements- Nekton Rep, Nekton Iguana, Herptivite, etc.- a medium sprinkle 2-4 times monthly for adults- more often for babies and juveniles
This diet has worked very well for my three. The only variation of consequence is when dealing with mild anorexia or giving medicine orally. I will give very small quantities of tofu mixed in the salad or laced with the medicine for a very short time.
I know that everyone has different ways of doing things and it doesn't necessarily make anyone wrong as long as you they are in the ballpark, so to speak. However, as I said this has worked for me and I would not hesitate to recommend it. Happy Herping, Iguana03
