LOL @ your wife falling for him so quickly! they *do* steal hearts pretty quickly! hehehe

i can't get into L+H's mom's post!?!? so at the risk of repeating what she's said ....

you don't need to chop the leafy foods as fine as other things, but not a bad idea to shred them up a bit, just so Ziggy eats a variety of the salad you've mixed up ... (it's harder to pick thru small pieces of salad) ... every once in a while i'll give iZ a *whole* great big collard leaf, kinda as a treat ... it's funny to watch his little green face light up at the sight of it ... they *can* eat the whole leaf just fine, that's what all those teeth are for, to shred leaves but, it'll also potentially lead to a pickier eater (been there, done that!!!)

as far as coming out of the enclosure ... every day for even 15-20 minutes would be the *least* amount ... more, more, more is better! iZ comes out of his room every night for a few hours + hangs out with us ... have a basking spot set up in the livingroom for him ... have Ziggy come out and sits on your shoulder while you watch the news or whatever, just to hang out + get to know each other ... let Ziggy do some supervised exploring maybe? careful tho, i gotta echo what others have said about them getting into tiny places that you didn't even know existed! oh ~ *and* they like to hide from you too! one clue to finding them is that they forget just how long their tail really is + it's usually sticking out ... heheheh

water pan sounds great ~ definitely change it daily for fresh drinking water ... humidifiers are great too! daily misting or daily tub soaks are good, especially this time of year if you have the furnace on + the air is so much drier ... and ... with daily tub soaks you can mebbe teach him that that's where he goes to the bathroom ... makes keeping his enclosure clean ALOT easier!!!

don't worry about long-winded!!! (they're used to ME!!!)

very best wishes!
me + iZ
