Be very careful who you allow to do your herp sitting. And we need to think it over before we take on the chore. I will soon be 'baby sitting' for an amimal that no one else want's anything to do with while a friend relocates (and I would be delighted if he were to 'abandon' it). But as I am the one of the few he would trust, he could also keep mine without causing me to worry.
But handing over a fair-sized, possibly agressive Iguana to a neighbor down the road, who oviously knows little about them so who can blame her, for a couple of weeks is another matter entirely. It borders upon stupidity. And worse, it makes all of the responsible herp keepers look dumb and / or crazy.

A woman who had been keeping a friend's iguana loose in her apartment called Animal Control because her friend had not reclaimed the three-foot-long lizard, and the woman was afraid of it. The iguana was being held at the D.C. Animal Shelter pending contact by the original owner.
