i think the light i have IS probably toooooo bright for night time use ..... i already have porcelain fixtures due to the high wattage of the heat lamps (they're NOT that much more $$$ than the regulars one BTW) .... i hadn't really thought of the ceramic heat emmitters ..... (which is WHY i ask questions!!!!) i think that is very probably the best way to go .....

i would recommend a really LARGE heating pad or possibly a electric blanket if you're going to move in with your igs!!!! LOL!
