Now when you say healthy, how much direct sunshine did she get when growing up?
IME the females that grew up their first two years (esp their first year) with LOTS of direct sunshine and proper diet will not have egg problems nearly as much.
I would wait it out and see... you can always have your friend research for the best vet to do the job if the eggs don't come out...
My female green ig will be having her 6th egglaying in a few months. She has never skipped a year, and last year she lay 62 eggs. She has never been mated, no males around. This year she will probably lay 70. Never even the slightest problems with egglaying. I was thinking about surgery to relieve her of this process, since it does take a lot of effort and I feel so bad towards the last few days when she is digging everywhere like mad, but I would never forgive myself if something happened on the operating table due to a surgery she didn't even need at the time.
My second girl, of cyclura species, has also lay her first eggs last year no problems at all. I am sure she will continue this way as long as I make sure she gets plenty of direct sun. Trust me, that is the magic... direct sunshine, good high greens diet (collards, mustards, turnip greens, chard, etc) and warm temps.
Whatever you decide, we will support your friend. It is a tough decision!
