I love the information you provide not only to me
but to everyone else, Please don't ever think
you went overboard. I was concerned about the same
thing why would the vet point it out, to me it
looked like about 8 peices of little rocks or
something. The vet told me he was going to send
the xrays out to have them evaluated then let me
know I paid about 300.00 for that initial visit
and when I called him about the xrays he told
me to bring her in, when I asked why he would not
discuss the xrays over the phone and that I needed to come in
with her. It is currently 50 below zero here with the wind chill
no way in hell I am going to drag her out in it
if I don't have to. I am a little concerned but
she has had wonderful poops and I think if it was anything she passed it.
Right now she is as gravid as they get if I remember correctly she laid her
eggs last year beginning of feburary and laid 45 eggs. She is only 2 so this is only her second
round. I am only a 2 year old owner myself and like new owners
I am learning as I go. I just thought I would throw the question out there and see what I got back for opinions,
I am currently seeking another vet in the area, I don't think this vet
should have withheld information from me that I already paid for,
I personally think they were taking advantage or trying to.
after she lays her eggs I plan on having a full check up and will see
the status of her xrays. If she has a problem laying her eggs I will act sooner.
But I honestly beleive at this point she is fine. This is really long winded sorry for that
and again BD Thanks for all your help and information it certainly
has taught me more about Spazzy, you and a few others are a very valuable
addition to this board. Between the board and all the
material I have read and read I have learned a tremendous amount.
Thanks again!!! Hope everyones families, pets, and selves are happy and healthy.

: BabyHerp is right in saying food does show up in an x-ray, but I was actually trying to get at another point with all my technical mumbo-jumbo.

: I assumed that the vet had seen food in an x-ray before, so by specifically pointing out "something in the stomach", I got the impression that the vet was implying that there was something not quite "normal".

: As several of us posted, any "bad" things (rocks, pebbles, kitty litter, earring backs, etc.) will show up clearly and unmistakeably on an x-ray, whereas food is more of just a gray blob in the midst of all the other gray blobs (i.e. you won't see the clear outline of a green bean).

: Now, as I didn't quite say before, if there was nothing that was recognizably foreign, then yes, it probably is just food.

: I just felt that the vet drawing attention to it was somehow significant, and if I caused you any worry I apologize.

: In Booger's x-ray, both the gravel in her intestines and the abnormally large gas bubble in her hindgut, were quite clear (as were the metal clips from her spaying when she had been egg-bound). The large lump that the vet had felt when he first examined her (impacted poop) did not show up as anything distinguishable..it was just the same shades of gray as all her other innards.

: Again, I apologize if I went a little overboard in trying to help you.
