iZ has ripped out a claw 5-6 times in the last few years ... *sigh* ... have never found *what* he did it on, he just seems to be able to occasionally get himself hurt ... it is definitely painful the 1st day or two, after that, it doesn't seem to be tender at all ...

betadine is great to have around for both ig boo-boos *and* to clean any scratches/bites *you* receive ... use full strength for things like that ... after that, neosporin ointment til it heals ... i doubt that a bandage would be appreciated and potentially would cause *more* injury when the ig tries to get the darn thing off ... (we tried to splint iZ's tail when he broke it ... *shaking head* ... they seem to blame the bandage for the pain they feel ... and remember, ig's do *not* like *anything* "different" especially if it's ON them! *grin*)

you shouldn't really need to do anything special for a hurt toe, other than clean it (which you did) and just keep on eye on it to make sure it doesn't get infected ... they'll limit their activity according to how uncomfortable it is ... but iZ has always perked back up after a day and gone back to climbing + roaming as if nothing's wrong ... his nails have always grown back really nice too ... tho it's a slow process ...

about the mouth rot ... *strongly* suggest a trip to the vet!!!! i'm really paranoid/wary of untreated infections any more after what we've been trhu with iZ ... i'd get an expert's opinion and possibly prescription treatment for it ... (iZ ended up with kidney disease due to an undetected/untreated bacterial infection ... he was one sick baby + is still not 100%)

about the picky eating ... *grin* sounds familiar!!! vary their diet just a bit more ... rotate zucchini one week and yellow squash the next ... add cilantro one week ... kale one week ... etc ... just keep the collards + mustards the staple part of it ... oh + dandelion greens if you can find them! *num* ...

best wishes!!
