Hi....sounds like the ig's tail must have broke off at some point in its life and has since regenerated...any history on this ig?? Maybe if you described it a little more detailed or get a pic scanned of it? I'll tell ya neosporin is ok for rostral abrasions/trauma...but undiluted betadine (generic & cheaper = povidine-iodine) works wonders...apply once daily AT NIGHT...less licking action and ig will leave it on...in a few days you'll notice a dramatic difference.May need a protective covering INSIDE the tank (if its wire mesh) like a soft fiberglass window screen type product called Pet Screen. VINYL COATED HARDWARE CLOTH causes just as much rostral trauma and ripping out of claws as ordinary chicken wire! Protect your ig...pad corners with rolled towels or foam nailed or taped securely to corners, provide a visual barrier cover the bottom of tank with butcher paper or? stuff like that..oh and it won't hurt to get this ig to a reptile vet for a wellness-check ;-) Welcome to the Boards!
Gina (who is overdu for some sleep here!)
