I would have to say no its not a good idea~~ I can understand though how you would come to wanting to let him go as Miya the mean tries my patience all the time! I have the scars to prove it!LOL~ It sounds like you want whats best for him and i am sure that would be to stay in his cage and be fed and cared for. When people take care of a wild animal that is to be released back into the wild they go about it in a different way. It has to have minimal human contact, be taught to forage for its own food and be released in a certain amount of time in its natural environment. EVEN them its chances of making it are not wonderful. So you have to consider how long its been in captivity(to long) has it had to forage(NO) and how much human contact its had over the years~~ really you couldn't feel very good about letting it go...............
: I have a 4-5 year old and four foot iguana that I
: purchased at Pet Supermarket. He lives outside in a
: large cage. I want to let him go in Crandon Park wild
: life refugee. I live on Key Biscayne and there is a
: wildlife area in Crandon Park with hundreds of ijuanas
: like mine. I heard that if I let him go, he will die
: because he is use to food being delivered to him
: everyday. I think he would be happier in the wild.
: Does he have a chance of surving on his own with all
: the other ijuanas around?
: Please advise
: thanks
