Iggie - taming

My iguana is about a little over 1 yr. old - every night since I've had him, I have taken him out of his cage and held him for about 1/2 hour - now he is about 2 ft. TL - I still have a problem taking him out - he goes totally spastic and recently bit me twice - not so that his teeth stay on me but a quick bite and then he lets go - he finally will settle down in a few seconds but my question is - will he ever truely settle down. I love her dearly and would never get rid of her but it seems so frustrating that after all this time she is not tame.
