Iguana help

My friend just got a new Iguana. His tail is a blackish-gray color with chunks of this colored stuff coming off. When this comes off you can see the muscles in his tail. There is also yellowish stuff that comes out through the black stuff on his tail. He also has gray patches on his stomach. Can anyone tell me what this is?
