As iguana Joe posted, if you're looking at a rating system; I would in my opinion rate an iguana as a 4 or 5...that's under a "normal""PET". These reptile should never be bought for the thrill of owning and showing off people....the thrill will wear off and then owners get tired of them and dump them. Iguanas take time.....and if you can't give it 2 hours 7 days a week...don't get one. If you can't supply the required space needed for a full grown iguana ( at least 5'x5'x6'....don't get one. If you can't keep their environment between 85 to 95 degrees.....don't get one. If you can't afford to have blood work done ( $60.00 to 90.00 ) at least once a year......don't get one. Figure on at least 150.00 a year Vet expense.
Tell ya what......if you're interested in truly finding out what it is like to raise an iguana....contact a rescue group in your area and ask to foster one. Rescue groups are always looking for foster homes. This does 2 things....1. it gives you the chance to learn what it takes to care for iguana..and 2. you're helping the rescue group...and we all know how much help they could use. If you can post your city....one of us here will try to find the closest rescue to you.

PS. Hate to sound negitive on the pet iguana view but...they are definitely NOT for every one. They are alot of work.
