yes, i certainly trust/believe Dr. Frye! (rather blows me away to be in contact with him!) ...

iZ got *severely* constipated about 10 days ago ... due to twice daily Amphojel and then i was s'posed to start adding baby food to his diet ... when i added the baby food (strained vegies), he got stopped up ... so we're back to a totally liquid diet for now and mineral oil once a day to help things out ... (*grin*) ... he finally started poopin' again a few days ago ... *very hard* fecal matter at first, getting a bit better each day, but still getting small very hard feces out along with the softer ... (what a conversation!) ... this kid was *really* packed full!

one of our (me + the vet) biggest concerns/fears was that if the swelling in his kidneys didn't go down, he wouldn't be able to have a BM ... + it'd kill him ... so ... right now, i'm not overly concerned that he's gonna get dependant on laxitives for awhile ... seems better than the alternative! ... will just have to be sure to taper off the laxative and not just suddenly stop it ...

iZ is going in for a check-up the end of the week ... i'm hoping that his phosphorous level is down enough that we can stop the amphojel! really think that's what the constipation prob is right now ...

re: me being diligent ~ don't know if it's diligent as much as anal ~ LOL!!! you should see the charts + "nursing notes" i keep! keep thinking i should be writing down vital signs too ... *sigh*

yes he is a *fighter*! HE has decided to hang in there + i think it's sheer stubborness on his part that he keeps getting better ~ and yep, he's got a *good doc*! we're doing something right that's for sure! i can barely feel his kidneys now! *hooray* ...
