it all takes time.
i used to pick up mi yg when i read books, or watched some TV. they get used to the house (for future free-roaming) and you get the time to tame it, while doing something else.
as for the cologne, yhey're right, BUT,
if you put in a CLEAN shirt with cologne, the animal gets used to it. then put on cologne when going to pick it up. the smell is so strong, he'll recognize you quickly.
funny isn't it? you put on cologne for a pesky little lizard! :)
gentleness and time it's all it takes. it'll get around.
