Yes, handling when young is the best, but even when they are older if they are not handled often they almost revert to being more scared. It is a catch 22, the more you try to pick her up - the more scared she gets, but the more you handle her - the tamer she will be. Good luck, but the best answer is to spend more time holding and picking her up, even when there is no need. Just to say "It is OK, I am friendly". It will take some time.
