: I just wanted to quickly let people know that
there is some encouraging news with respect to
Elmo, the sick desert iguana.
: I got a phone call last night from his owner who
was ecstatic to see Elmo up and about in his cage
yesterday. He was moving around for quite a while
and even nibbled at some veggies.
: She had not been giving Elmo any calcium
supplements or UV light - which has resulted in
slight tremors in his back legs. As of the
weekend, Elmo has had a UV light on him and is now
getting regular calicum supplements. She is also
treating him for dehydration many times a day and
it seems to be working.
: We have opted not to hibernate Elmo as he is
just not strong enough or have enough meat on him.
He is quite emaciated with a lot of skin folds.
We want to bulk him up, get the calcium in him and
make sure he is set for next year.
: I just wanted to thank everyone for their emails
and words of encouragement! By no means is Elmo
out the of the woods yet, but it is an encouraging
sign!
: Candace
