I know how upset you are because the same thing happened to me, but I did not
have the internet to ask questions and used a Lancaster, PA phone book to try and
reach vets in Pittsburgh, PA. Hopefully you are not that bad off. Just make sure you
clean the area well, put betadine on it a few times, and it will grow back. Just don't take
your iguana to the vet to have stiches put in because the tail won't grow back. The growth rate
of the tail depends on the growth rate of your iguana. My iguana lost about 4 inches of his tail
and it started to grow back in just a few weeks. It will look really funny, but it is fascinating to
watch. Don't you wish your body parts would grow back if you lost them? The tail will not look like the old
tail but will be a very dark brown color. As your iguana gets older the tail will develop scales
and it will start looking a little more normal. However, the long tip will never come back. The end will
just be blunt. Good luck and relax :)
: O.K. what do I do? How long will it take to grow back and to what exstent will it? He is about A year old and it broke about 1/3 off the tip.
: Please help me!!!!
