Dilemma

A former co-worker HAD two iguanas, she has been keeping them improperly since I met her. I had been trying to get her to change her keeping habits since I met her. She just didn't really care.
Well one of them died & now I hear she is looking to get rid of the other. We live in NY, her in Brooklyn, me in Long Island. It is illegal in New York city (Staten Island, Manhatten, Brooklyn, Queens & the Bronx) to keep Iguanas
due to some assinine law that the Ney York Herp Society endorsed!

Anyway, I don't want to see her kill another poor Iguana due to her poor husbandry & overall uncaring attitude. I currently have too many animals & can't fit anymore in my apartment. But I am buying a house in the next 6 months!
Should I take it in now, or let her give the iguana to someone else who probably wouldn't know an iguana from a savanna monitor!
