My purpose in bringing my experience here, is that there have
been times, sometimes I think too often, when some people make
assumptions and proceed to verbally attack someone, even though
it may have been an innocent or purely uninformed comment or question.
I believe, in my opinion, it is unjust to personally attack someone
without proven just cause. And it is my opinion that I am stating here.
I believe that behaving like an adult is a worthwhile goal, even though
even though one may not be an adult, via age and/or maturity, yet.
I made my comments after going back through the ig and monitor forums and
looking at the posts by people that, on more than one occasion, opted for in-
flammatory language and personal attacks. I wanted to make sure that what I
said was not based on a "knee jerk reaction". Unfortunately, these forementioned,
people tend to dominate a forum and succeed in eliminating anyone else that
doesn't bend to their "rules" and behavior. Futhermore, I notices that these in-
dividuals continued their harrangue on their victims even after the initial
discussion had ended.
So, based on what I have said above, the forum ceases to become an open platform
for ideas and opinions. And instead, becomes a private club relegated only to those
of the same opinion and means of communication ( ie: language and method of conversing).
If you may have noticed, I have been criticized for having this opinion, both by
legitimate posters and anonomously(sic).
It would be unfortunate if the ig forum became as nasty as the monitor forum, which is
why I used it as an example.
As far as what animals we have. We have 3 igs, 1 sav monitor, 3 cats and thats it. All reptile
live in large, double walled, insulated, micro climate enclosures with: multiple thermostats,
timers,UV lights, heat lamps, etc. All are fed specialized diets based on the consensus of my
experience and the feedback from zoologists, zoo vets, biologists and reptile breeders. Which
is not to say that I am not open to new ideas, just not to criticism with no basis in fact.
PS. There were good comments made (the majority)to my monitor post in that forum, which I did take
to heart and apply to my own particular situation.
