What you describe in the way of evacuation sounds good to me....as long as the ig is secured, and healthy, they can survive long enough without the proper set-up to get them to safety. Especially when you say that it is only 75 miles away.

Think of taking your ig to the vet. 2-3 hours without a heat lamp, and they are fine.
