Hi Dear!

First, good thing you wash the wound carefully... Betadine (or any antibiotic cream) was also a good move. You should also submerge the wound for 10-15 minutes 2 or 3 times a day in a 9 parts water : 1 part bleach solution for the next few days to prevent infection. Infection is the most frequent complication with bites. (But I wouldn't worry for salmonella... And I surely wouldn't get "tested" for it). If the wound is really deep, it could be prone to tetanos (altough the bacteria usually comes from dirt or soil) so some doctors (not all) will recommand you a tetanos shot if it's been 5 years or more since you had one. (With tetanos vaccine, one should receive a booster shot every 10 years. If a wound is not "prone" to tetanos, then, there is no necessity to give another booster. But, if the wound is "prone" (Deep, dirty (that include contact with saliva), old (> 8hrs) wound ) to tetanos, the booster should be give if it's been more than 5 years since the last shot. Also, If the wound is really deep, you may need some suture to help you heal with a more discrete and "prettier" scare.
