{{...says Retained shed compromises the blood flow,shrinks as it dries resulting in necrosis (death) and sloughing of the affected part. ... "widespread focal,black raised lesions 1-5cm in diameter covering their entire surface, which resemble a multitude of tiny scabs.The etiology has been reported to be Geotrichum candidum" a fungal organism." }}}

well, i sat the dreadful dear on my lap last night before bedtime, rubbed his head til he fell asleep (hehehe) and then more carefully examined the scales in question with a little flashlight ~ (*note to self: get a magnifying glass + accept the fact your eyes don't work as well as you wish!*)

i'm just heartsick ~ there are more scales affected than what i'd orignally thought ~ it's still just the BIG scales ... or maybe that's all my eyes can see ... thought it was just on his jowls, but those neat little bumps on his shoulders (what ARE those called!?!?) are also showing signs of ... SOMETHING ~ again, "WEIRD" is the only word i can come up with ~ they just don't look 'right' at this point ~

i'm worried now about the lesions, BH mentioned ~ there are very tiny marks, in the center of the affected scales, looks like scabs ~ some are black, some look obviously newer and are brown ... they are all very, very tiny at this point ~ the biggest are maybe the size of this comma "," ...

*heavy sigh* got my stash of Silvadine cream out and spent an hour rubbing that all over his head + shoulders, making sure i got in between the scales + gently rubbing him 'against the grain' to get some up under the scales ...

any further input would be appreciated!!! i'm off to research the above mentioned fungus ... Happy Halloween indeed!
