space heaters & igs

It is finally getting cold here in New Mexico and I need some advice on keeping my ig warm enough. I live in a old apartment with a floor heater instead of a central heating system. Last winter I moved Angus into my guest room that is across from the heater. He was warm but he became very anti-social, mean, and there is not a good view out the window so he can watch people and cars. Any way I was thinking of buying a space heater for the living room, which is where angus lives. I was wondering how safe a space heater would be around him and if anyone has any suggestion on what brand or type to buy. Angus is a free roamer and I currently have two 75watt night bulbs and a heating pad on low for his sleeping spot and It hasn't been warm enough these last two night. I know that keeping him in a cage would help is temp but I can't handle keeping him caged so I would to try every thing else first. Thanks for any ideas! ^^^Sam^^^
