Hi and welcome to the best GGI forum on line.
First,,, you will need to do some really deep and intense reading and researching on the Giant Green Iguana.They are a wonderful creature,,,but do take a lot of time,money and effort to raise properly.Yes igs can and do,if you raise them right,grow to 6ft and 20 something lbs.They can also live 20 yrs.It will take a special vet to take care of them and these vets are hard to find.It also takes very special people to raise a GGI to become healthy and tame and long lived.
It could be your friends GGI has had some dietary problems or not enough sunlight or supplements to allow it to grow to it's proper size.There are a lot of factors involved in raising a healthy ig.
