Gina...yeah too controversial if ya ask me...got them a week or so ago....they remain in their box, on top of my brand new scanner (still in the box since May!!) as you can see not in a hurry to put em up...its been hot & super sunny out here in S. Cali so igs are getting out for sun everyday. I only run the tubes in winter months anyway when I can't get the brats in the sun cuz of bad weather. As soon as I put em up...I'll let you know how its going. Im going to be using timers for no more than two hours a day and have to rig up a "diffuser" on recommendations of the vet...even tho my igs won't be in "direct" contact of the flood lamps rays.... I want to play it safe. I'd suggest posting at every herp forum/message board you can think of...get as many opinions about their usage and make a decision. I paid almost $100 for both lamps, but supposedly gonna last me alot longer than the tubes. We'll see....alls I can say is most "igsperts" are putting them down...many more well known herpers are giving them the thumbs up. Fortunately Im one of those people who want to know why people are putting these lamps down...not just 'don't use em cuz I'm a self proclaimed igspert'....lol. Just research them on your own...I think they'd be ideal for igs in a converted room, large enclosure (I got pretty low wattage lamps for my two enclosures a 100 & 300 w flood)and the igs will be roughly 3-4 ft. away from the light, with their backs away from the light. I'll keep ya posted.
