First Off ,
Hello,..... I am a newbie IG owner (long time pet keeper wild/domestic including reptiles).
I recieved this IG 8" snout to vent estimate...from a freind.
He is eating ,has proper lighting,Iguana salad, dandilions, greens, ect.
Humidity kept 55-70%.. ect ect ect....
I scare him,( not as much after almost a week with me) and it seems when i make it past his "threats" he gives in and i can "pet" him....
BUT he closes his eyes and lays down still.....Is this a good thing or am i scaring him to death and hes trying to play dead?
I have not taken him out of his new 30 gallon home since i got him last THURS.
I have his habitat right next to me so he can see me as i spend time on the pc.
I did hold him the first day i got him......no problems .....but i quickly put him down (fear of the jaws ).
Should i just keep progressing slowly until i can enter my arm/hand into the cage without him getting upset BEFORE i handle him?
Or should i just handle him every day and insist he do it MY way?
I dont want to screw this taming thing up by being forcefull....But if im not forcefull will he always be defensive in hopes i will let him be?
He is aprox 2 yrs old.... Pics here http://i3.yimg.com/3/c4e621ec/g/mvc-890s.jpg
Please offer any help .....and thanks to all.....
