Yeah its a hibiscus according to the PFAF. I plugged in the latin name ...hopefully this link will help ya....the leaves of hibiscus are edible. I have only offered young tender hibiscus leaves to my igs....used to give them mature leaves but I think the leave vein/stem was too much for my igs and caused constipation....so since switching them to the young leaves they haven't had that problem. Hibiscus leaves have a good high calcium to phosphorus ratio. The flowers however have a higher phosphorus than calcium level and are a natural estrogen, something you don't want to feed too often.
