Ant Problem

I have an ant problem and don't know how to get rid of it with out exposing my Ig to harmful chemicals. I have tried Ant traps and that doesn't seem to help. Any sudgestions on getting rid of them? At the moment Baby is a free romer. I have a cage that I can contain him in but would only like to use this as a last measure. Even then how long will the chemicals be in my room? I would hate for him to have problems when turned back to free roaming. Thanks for any ideas.
