While iguanas seem like fragile animals, they'll surprise you with how tenacious (sp?) they can be. Awhile back, someone posted here about a baby iguana that escaped and for months it lived through 50 degree weather and was found alive and well.
Don't assume the lizard's a goner! It's probably alive and kicking. Don't give up and good luck on finding it!
